FAQs

Event venue questions

Is there enough parking on site?

Yes. There's a free 50-space car park right outside. That's rare at our prices. Usually only big city conference centres have their own. For bigger events, there's an overflow car park across the main road. A parking attendant will show your guests where to go.

What are your opening hours for events?

We're open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. We're flexible about setting up early and clearing away late. You can ask us for evening and weekend events. Tell us your times and we'll do our best to fit them.

Can we bring our own catering?

We mainly work with our catering partner, Superior Catering. That keeps the food and service the same high standard. Have a special request? Talk to us first. Sometimes we can agree other plans.

Is catering available on site?

Yes. Tea and coffee are included all day, in or near every space you book. For food, Superior Catering can make a menu for your event. They do vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. You order from them and pay them directly. We'll put you in touch when you book.

What AV (sound, mics and screens) is in the Auditorium?

The Auditorium has a stage, a lectern, microphones, a projector, a sound system and lighting. A technician sets up and runs the sound, mics and projector on the day. You pay for this, and every Auditorium booking needs it. Tell us what your speakers need. We'll have it ready before you arrive.

What is your cancellation policy?

Events count as larger bookings. Larger bookings are fully chargeable once booked. If you cancel, the full cost is payable. The same applies if you reduce the number of rooms, days or hours. You can move a larger booking once, as long as you tell us at least 2 weeks before the original date. The new date needs to be within 6 months. What you've paid moves with you. If the new date costs more, you pay the difference. If it costs less, the original price stands. Changes after that, or with less than 2 weeks' notice, count as a cancellation. We understand plans change. If something genuinely unexpected happens, talk to us. We'll look at exceptional circumstances case by case.

Do you need a deposit, and what are the payment terms?

Yes. 25% deposit to secure your dates. We'll invoice you when you book. Please pay within 5 business days, or we may release the dates. The deposit is non-refundable. The balance is invoiced 2 weeks before your first booking date. Booking less than 2 weeks ahead? We'll invoice the full amount when you book. You can pay by bank transfer (details on your invoice) or by card over the phone. PO numbers are welcome, but we still need the deposit to secure your dates.

What is included in the room hire?

We talk your event through with you first. We set the rooms to your layout, and hosts check on you all day. You get tea and coffee in or near every space. Every breakout room has a screen or projector, cables and a flipchart. There's 1Gb fibre WiFi and free parking. The Auditorium technician and food cost extra.

How do I check availability or arrange a visit?

Call 0151 482 0408, email info@mobtc.co.uk, or use the form on this page. Want to see the space first? We do tours every weekday. Just shout.

Do you host parties or private functions?

No. The Maggie O'Neill Centre hosts business, training and community events only. We don't take bookings for parties or private functions.

What is the total capacity of the venue?

The Auditorium seats up to 100 theatre style, or 60 cabaret at tables. Layouts with tables cost extra. On top of that, there are six breakout rooms for 20 to 30 people each, theatre style. And the Pod seats up to 4.
