What they needed

What does protected learning time need from a venue?

Protected learning time brings a whole network together at once. For Central and South PCN, that means 60 to 100 people from different practices. Different sessions and training run all through the day.

So it needs one room big enough for everyone. It needs a place every practice can reach. And the day must run to time. The time is protected, and nobody wants to lose it to setting up.

How we host it

How does the Maggie O'Neill Centre host a protected learning day?

  • The Auditorium seats up to 60 cabaret style (small round tables), so practices can sit together. Or it seats up to 100 theatre style.
  • The room is set before anyone arrives. The stage, screen and lighting are ready for the first speaker.
  • Hosts are on site all day. Self-serve tea and coffee is in the room for everyone.
  • Free parking on site for staff coming in from every practice, 30 seconds from the M57.
Every month

Why hold PCN meetings here?

As well as the big days, Central and South PCN books smaller meeting rooms each month. These are for its board meetings and the other meetings a PCN has to hold. At the Maggie O'Neill Centre, they meet in a shared space, away from any one practice's building.

One venue for training days and regular meetings means one place to book. And staff already know the way.
